Subseries I-A: Personality Large (PL), is the largest subseries and consists of 9” x 12” files. This subseries includes both photographs and clippings. Files for prominent individuals, both local and non-local, tend to be found in the PL files, because the files are physically larger and can accommodate both larger, as well as a greater number of, items per file. However, this largest subseries is also where most of the “ordinary” people can be found also.

Subseries I-B: Personality Medium (PM) consists of 5” x 8” files (sometimes referred to as “card size” files in earlier descriptions and indices). This subseries includes both photographs (8 linear feet) and clippings (64 linear feet). Because of the smaller file size, the files in this subseries tend to contain fewer items per file than the PL files. Scope and Contents
Subseries I-D: Personality Oversize (OSBP and OSD) consists of photographs only, in sizes too large to fit into the ordinary 9” x 12” files in PL. The majority of these photographs are in 13” x 16” flat boxes (OSBP), and ones too large even for those boxes are stored in flat file drawers (OSD) in map folders. Subseries I-E: Personality VIP Files (PVIP) may include photographs and clippings for specific “very important people” (frequently requested people). These have been separated out into their own special box(es), often a 3-ring binder box (in the case of photos). Examples of PVIP files include Neil Armstrong, Charles F. Kettering, and the Wright Brothers.
